Street life in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa with a many natural resources but yet is still one of the poorest countries in the world.

It is a former British colony known as the Lion Mountain.

Sierra Leone is one of the countries in sub-Saharan Africa that has suffered in recent years; first from a 12-year-long rebel war that left the country in total destruction, leading to economic instability, lower life expectancy, increased child mortality and, most recently, the deadly Ebola outbreak.

Another issue is the increase in teenage prostitution and how the police uses the law to abuse these young girls.

Artefact set out to find out why.
