Zizi & Me: Putting AI and real-life drag queens on stage together

1 Mins read

Zizi & Me, created by Jake Elwes, is a double act between ‘Me The Drag Queen’ and a deepfake (AI) clone. So what can AI teach us about drag, what drag can teach us about AI, and could AI replace drag performance?

The video covers the world’s first experimental artwork with AI and real-life drag queens on stage together called Zizi & Me by Jake Elwes, which explores the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drag performance.

This mesmerising double act features the renowned drag queen ‘Me The Drag Queen’ and her astonishing deepfake clone. By harnessing the power of neural networks, this extraordinary partnership brings forth a virtual body that responds to new reference movements.

In their first act, Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better), they cleverly satirise the misconception that artificial intelligence can effortlessly mimic human existence.

Through the captivating medium of cabaret and musical theatre, Zizi & Me challenges prevailing narratives surrounding AI and society. With an innovative exploration at the intersection of AI and drag performance, gender boundaries are shattered, otherness is celebrated, and society’s complex relationship with technology is laid bare.
