Masterpiece is due to be released on March 23 in the UK, the third single to be taken from Jessie’s 2014 album, Sweet Talker, after Bang Bang and Burnin’ Up.
The new single features Jessie J’s trademark swagger and opens with strong lyrics and string section, culminating in the singer’s powerful vocals that are stereotypical of Jessie’s style.
It has already been dubbed one of the era’s greatest pop songs, with its catchy chorus and punchy bassline.
Jessie J is currently touring the UK in support of Sweet Talker, but following in the footsteps of the successful Bang Bang, featuring Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, Masterpiece is under a lot of pressure to do well in the UK.
Over in America, the single failed to reach any higher than #65 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released at the start of the year.
The singer was first signed in America, before being signed here in the UK, a strange occurrence for a British singer/songwriter. however, she is still struggling to make her mark stateside, with few Americans actually knowing who she is.
Jessie battles on regardless, promoting both her album and new single.
She performed with Sir Tom Jones at the Grammys, where Bang Bang was nominated in the Best Duo/Group Performance category and has announced a tour in March around Australia.
She is also set to perform at London’s New Look Wireless Festival this July, along with David Guetta, Clean Bandit and Wretch 32.
