Agora

If you’re in Borough Market and craving a taste of Greece, Agora is definitely worth a visit. Tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle, this dimly lit small plates restaurant manages to be both trendy and inviting. The stylish décor and warm lighting set the mood, while the lively buzz makes it a great spot for a casual dinner or a date night. Though the space is on the smaller side, it feels cozy rather than cramped.

Being part Greek, I was especially curious to see how Agora’s dishes would stack up against the flavours I grew up with. We ordered a mix of small plates to share: a soft, pillowy flatbread with creamy hummus, two pork souvlakis that were tender and perfectly seasoned, and a Greek salad that really stole the show. Instead of the usual feta, it was topped with galomizithra—a soft, tangy cheese that added a fresh twist—plus crunchy carob rusks for texture. To finish, we shared a tiramisu that was so light and rich, it practically melted in our mouths.

The bill came to £39, which felt reasonable considering the quality of the food and the location. For Borough Market, it was a pleasant surprise not to spend more. The menu also had some other tempting options, like pork belly and lamb, which I’ll definitely be back to try next time.

Whether you’re already a fan of Greek cuisine or just looking to try something different, Agora’s mix of authentic flavours and modern flair makes it a must-visit.
