‘The stairs are lethal’: The urgent need for lifts at Peckham Rye

1 Mins read

The train station, built in 1985, is one of the busiest interchanges in the country, but is still inaccessible to many.

Peckham Rye station, operated by GT Railway, is a vital part of south London’s transport network. It serves thousands daily, connecting the Overground, Southern, Southeastern, and Thameslink.

Despite its importance, the station has no step-free access to any of its four platforms. For disabled commuters as well as parents with buggies, the elderly and those travelling with heavy luggage, the station poses a grave challenge.

Nathan Rollinson, a campaigner for Inclusion London, has been telling Artefact about the urgent need for an upgrade.
